Berbock: Germany is open to British proposal to exchange cruise missiles

"Germany open to David Cameron's proposal to swap cruise missiles between Berlin and London so Ukraine can get more advanced long-range weapons".
This was stated by German Foreign Minister Analena Berbock.
"The proposal by British Foreign Secretary David Cameron is an option worth considering," Baerbock said in an interview with German broadcaster ARD.
Cameron expressed his intention to "work as closely as possible with our German partners to help Ukraine".
According to the proposal of the top British diplomat, Berlin could supply Britain with Taurus missiles, and in turn the British government would provide Ukraine with additional long-range Storm Shadow missiles from the British stocks.
Berlin is reluctant to provide Kiev with its advanced Taurus missiles, which are less visible for detection and can hit targets at a distance of 500 km.
Despite Ukraine's pleas, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has blocked the delivery of the missiles out of concern that they could be used to strike targets inside Russia itself and further escalate the conflict.
Germany used this indirect method - which Berlin calls the "exchange of rings" - earlier in the war in terms of arming Ukraine with more tanks. Later, Berlin decided to send battle tanks directly to Ukraine./BGNES
