Bayern stunned by Werder Bremen at home

Bayern Munich suffered a surprise setback in the German Bundesliga title race after losing 1-0 at home to Werder Bremen in the 18th round.

At the "Allianz Arena", Justin Njinmah had a goal disallowed by VAR, but there was nothing to stop Mitchell Weiser, who scored for the visitors. The champions pressed for an equalizer until the end, but none came and the "Bremen musicians" did Bayern's main title rivals this season Bayer Leverkusen a favour in the title race.

The "Aspirins" won their away game against RB Leipzig with a dramatic yesterday and after today's loss of the Bavarians, the difference at the top is seven points, with the Munich team having a game less. Werder is in 12th position with 20 points.

In the next round, Werder Bremen host Freiburg, while Bayern will first play their postponed match against Union at home, before visiting Augsburg in a regional derby. /BGNES
