Bayern Munich crushed Mainz 05 8:1 at home in a match of the 25th round of the German First Bundesliga. At the Allianz Arena, the champions enjoyed themselves and ended the week in excellent fashion as they also progressed to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Harry Kane opened the scoring in the 13th minute and seven later Leon Gorecka made it 2-0. Nadiem Amiri reduced the deficit but late in the first half Kane restored the home side's two-goal lead. After the break, the recital of the team led by Thomas Tuchel continued with another five unanswered goals. Thomas Müller, Jamal Musiala, Serge Gnabry and again Kane and Goretzka scored for the resounding victory. With his hat-trick today, Kane now has 30 goals since the start of the Bundesliga season.
Bayern are seven points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen, who welcome Wolfsburg tomorrow. Mainz is penultimate with 16 points.
In the next round, the team hosts Bochum, while the champions visit Darmstadt.
