Bayern Munich defeated traditionally awkward rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-1 at home in a match of the 20th round of the German First Bundesliga.
Nico Elvedi gave the visitors the lead in the 35th minute, but at the end of the first half Aleksandar Pavlovic restored parity. After the break, Thomas Tuchel's men had to show patience and broke the resistance of Borussia with a second goal in the 70th minute, which was scored by goalscorer Harry Kane. In the end, Matthijs de Ligt put the game to bed with a third goal.
The champions made no mistake at home and remain two points adrift at the top after Bayer Leverkusen also had no trouble against Darmstadt for a 2-0 win. Both goals were scored by ex-Southampton footballer Nathan Tella.
In the next round, the two main contenders for the Bundesliga title face each other in a head-to-head clash at the home of the "aspirins" on Saturday, February 10, at 19:30 Bulgarian time.
