Bathing in milk is among Mariah Carey's beauty secrets

Mariah Carey is undoubtedly the queen of Christmas and every December she fills our hearts with festive joy as she performs songs that we will never tire of.

But how does the star maintain her glamorous look?

Here's a look at Mariah's beauty treatments that have her looking as stunning today as she did in 1994, when her Christmas classic All I Want for Christmas is You was released.

One of Mariah's most unusual beauty secrets is that she likes to bathe in cold milk to moisturize her skin.

In a 2018 interview, Mariah was asked by The Guardian if it was true that she only bathed in French mineral water.

Her answer was: "No, I bathe in milk. Sometimes I use milk as a cosmetic procedure. I don't want to give away all my secrets."

Mariah follows a strict diet to look this fabulous and eats the same way every day.

The star previously shared: "It's really hard. My diet, you're going to hate it.

"All you eat is Norwegian salmon and capers every day. That's it," the singer claims.

Mariah knows how important a good night's sleep is and even hires a massage therapist to help her relax so she can fall asleep more easily.

The star explained that on nights when she has trouble falling asleep, she invites a masseuse to relax.

A source once told US Weekly that Mariah spent over £1,000 on an eight-hour massage to help her relax and spent the entire time watching Sacha Baron Cohen's comedy Bruno on repeat.

Aside from hiring a massage therapist to make sure she falls asleep easily, Mariah takes sleep extremely seriously and sometimes sleeps 15 hours a night.

The pop star also reportedly surrounds herself with 20 humidifiers while she sleeps to keep her vocal cords moist.

Prohibition on the use of mascara

Mariah believes that less is more when it comes to makeup, and she keeps her look fabulous by forbidding makeup artists to put mascara on her.

The star previously told Vogue: "I hate mascara. I never wear it."

"Every time a makeup artist tries to put it on me, I'm terrified."

She added: "If you don't wear a lot of make-up, you don't need to take a lot of it off. So my goal is to wear as little make-up as possible so I don't have to steam up and take it all off."

Despite Mariah's hatred of mascara, longtime makeup artist and friend Christopher Buckle told Who What Wear that for her, it's all about the eyes.

He said: "Mariah's look is all about the eyes... period. I love the earth tone Swarovski crystal eyes that I did for her Apple+ Christmas special 'A Magical Christmas'. I stuck 50 stones on each eye over smoked chocolate and gold eyeshadow to create a magical light show effect".

Mariah is very particular about the lighting she sits in, and in her home she only has niche lighting, chandeliers and candles.

The star considers overhead lighting abusive and often requests lamps on her tour bus to avoid being exposed to unflattering light.

Mariah is undoubtedly a natural beauty, but Dr. Ross Perry, medical director of Cosmedics, said she's likely had several cosmetic procedures over the years.

He told Fabulous: "Mariah Carey looks great for her age, but she's undoubtedly had help along the way in the form of regular 'fixes.'

"Looking at Mariah's recent photos, I would say she regularly gets Botox every 3-4 months as she has very few wrinkles that would be expected for someone her age."

"I suggest she use Botox around her hairline, crow's feet, wrinkle line and possibly around her nose."

"Also, as we age, our lips lose volume, so I would guess that Mariah had some lip fillers," Perry added.

"It is possible that she also had breast enlargement, but this could be due to weight gain," he added./BGNES
