Spanish vice-champion Barcelona has officially announced the name of its new coach. This is the former coach of Bayern Munich and coach of Germany, Hanzi Flick.
The 59-year-old Flick has signed a two-year contract until the summer of 2026, when the term of the president, Joan Laporta, ends.
While coaching Bayern, Flick won all the major honours he could get his hands on before leading Germany to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar but left his post after the four-time world champions crashed out in the group stage.
Earlier in the day, Barcelona announced that they have finally agreed to officially terminate the contract of Xavi Hernandez and his team, a year early.
"FC Barcelona and Xavi Hernandez have reached an agreement to terminate the contract of the coach and his team with the club, which was until the end of the 2024/25 season," the Catalan club said in the official information.
"The club would like to publicly thank Xavi and the rest of his coaching staff for their commitment, dedication and generosity, as well as their assistance in reaching a contract termination agreement. We also wish him every success in the future both personally and in professional terms", added more from Barcelona. /BGNES
