Barbora Krejcikova won a historic first Wimbledon title of her career. The Czech played Jasmine Paolini of Italy 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.
It was the second Grand Slam trophy for Krejcikova after she also triumphed at Roland Garros in 2021. Paolini, on the other hand, played a final in Paris this year and lost to the world No. 1. Iga Schwantek.
The match started strongly for Krejcikova, who made the breakthrough in the first game. Then the Czech took her opponent's serve once more and closed the set with 6:2.
In the second set, things changed and Paolini took control of events on court. The Italian made a breakthrough in the second game and then in the eighth, giving her the opportunity to serve first in the deciding game.
In the third set, both were winning their serves until the seventh game when Krejcikova managed to take Paolini's serve. At 5:4, the Czech served for the title. The game was extremely contested, as Krejcikova had to save two points to get the break back. However, she managed to win the match on her third match point. | BGNES
