"The U.S. has provided many of Ukraine's top priority demands and much more assistance is on the way."
This was stated by the US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin during the 22nd summit of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine, reports Kyiv Independent.
Austin stressed that the new Russian offensive in the Kharkiv region has contributed to the West's urgent support for Ukraine.
He described the ongoing anti-Russian offensive in northeastern Ukraine as a "difficult and dangerous struggle" that only underscores the importance of the summit.
According to Volodymyr Zelensky, Moscow's forces have managed to advance up to 10km in the Kharkiv region, but have been stopped by the first line of defence.
Austin added that "air defense will be high on our agenda at the summit," which will help Ukraine defend Kharkiv Oblast and other places near the front.
The minister concluded that "the weeks and months are again crucial" and urged Ukraine's Western allies to increase their support./BGNES
