A Danish court sentenced a Pole to 4 months in prison and ordered him to be deported for punching the country's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in June, AFP reported.
The 39-year-old man was taken into custody immediately after the alleged attack on June 7 in a Copenhagen square.
"We find you guilty of hitting the Prime Minister with a closed fist on the right shoulder," said Judge Jakob Scherfig at the end of the trial.
The man, who has been living in Denmark for five years, will be deported after serving his sentence. He will also be banned from re-entering the Scandinavian country for six years.
He denied responsibility during the two-day trial. The man claims he remembers coming face-to-face with the Prime Minister but not raising a hand against her. | BGNES
