Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will sign a new contract with the club that will keep him at the Gunners until the summer of 2027. The current contract of the Spanish specialist expired at the end of this season, but the two sides have already reached a full understanding on the new contract.
Arteta, who is a former captain of the Londoners, replaced Unai Emery in charge of the team in December 2019 and has once again made Arsenal one of the strongest teams in England. He won the FA Cup in his debut season, but that remains his only trophy as Gunners coach. In the last two seasons, Arsenal have been in a fierce battle with Manchester City for the championship title, but in both cases the "citizens" prevailed. However, Arteta looks close to making Arsenal champions of England for the first time since 2004.
Arteta's new contract is expected to be officially announced before Sunday's Premier League derby with Tottenham.
For 42-year-old Mikel Arteta, Arsenal was his debut position as a manager. He was previously Pep Guardiola's assistant at Manchester City. As a player, the Spaniard played a total of 150 games for the Londoners. | BGNES
