Ariana Grande travels to her hometown to watch Wicked with her grandmother

Ariana Grande shared the magic of Wicked with her grandmother Marjorie "Nonna" Grande.

The singer and actress, who stars as Glinda the Good Witch in the movie Wicked, stopped in her hometown of Boca Raton, Florida, to watch the movie with her grandmother, who turned 99 in October.

"I flew to Boca for the day to watch the movie with Nonna," Grande wrote on her Instagram account, showing a photo of her sitting next to her grandmother and brother Frankie in a dimly lit theater.

Grande added that they watched the film at "the movie theater I grew up going to every weekend," and mentioned that her boyfriend Ethan Slater, who also stars in the film as Bock, took the photo, CNN reports.

She also shared a video of her Nonna smiling while watching Grande's musical number "Popular" on the big screen.

"I'm thrilled to report that when Sugar Glarus had his drum solo, Nonna exclaimed loudly 'oh I like that,'" the Grammy winner wrote.

In March, Nonna Grande made history when she became the oldest artist ever to appear on the Billboard Hot 100, at the age of 98, according to the music charts website.

Nonna was cited in Grande's song "Ordinary Things" as a featured artist. The song debuted on the chart at number 55.

Grande stars alongside Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba, in Wicked, the film adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical that tells the events in Oz that happened before Dorothy's arrival.

The film, directed by John M. Chu, took place on November 22 and grossed an estimated $162 million at the worldwide box office during its opening weekend.

It also became the third highest-grossing opening weekend of 2024 after Deadpool and Wolverine and Inside Out 2. | BGNES
