Anthony Mackie, who is in Rome to promote his new film in the "Captain America" series, says superhero qualities don't apply to America.
Mackie stars as Sam Wilson in Disney and Marvel's "Captain America: Brave New World," succeeding the character Steve Rogers, played by actor Chris Evans in the previous films.
"Captain America represents a lot of different things, and I don't think the term 'America' should be one of them. It's about a man who keeps his word, who has honor, dignity and integrity. A man who can be trusted and relied on," Mackey stated in Italy's capital.
Moviegoers wondered: doesn't the actor see those qualities in his home country?
The production comes out in cinemas on February 14 under the direction of Julius Onah.
The film also stars Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Carl Lumbley, Harrison Ford and more. The official synopsis says Anthony Mackie returns as the flying hero Sam Wilson, who has officially taken up the mantle of Captain America. After meeting with newly elected US President Thaddeus Ross, Sam finds himself at the center of an international incident. He must discover the cause of a nefarious global conspiracy. | BGNES
