Anthony Blinken and David Lammy arrived in Kyiv for meetings with Ukrainian leaders

The diplomatic heads of the USA and Great Britain - Anthony Blinken and David Lammy - arrived in Kiev. During their visit, the two will discuss further easing of rules on firing Western weapons at targets in Russia.

The American Secretary of State and the British Foreign Minister arrived in the Ukrainian capital after a 9-hour train journey from Poland, AFP reported.

The visit comes amid increased demands by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for weapons with greater firepower and fewer restrictions on their use.

US President Joe Biden, asked in Washington if he would allow Ukraine to use longer-range weapons, replied: "We are working on that right now."

Biden has made it clear before that he wants to avoid the war escalating into a direct conflict between the US and Russia.
"The United States is committed to providing Ukraine with what it needs, when it needs it, to most effectively deal with Russian aggression," Blinken said during a joint press conference with Lammy on Sept. 10 in London.

The top US diplomat added that it was also important to see whether Ukrainian forces could maintain and operate certain weaponry. | BGNES
