Another eruption of the Levotobi Laki-Laki volcano in Indonesia

The volcano in eastern Indonesia erupted again this morning, sending a giant tower of ash 9km into the sky, days after killing nine people and forcing thousands of locals to evacuate.

The 1,703-metre-high, twin-peaked volcano Levotobi Lakki-Laki on the tourist island of Flores has erupted more than ten times this week.

No damage was reported in nearby villages. Authorities have warned residents to "stay alert".

More than 10,000 people have been affected by the eruptions, with officials urging locals to move permanently out of the eight-kilometre exclusion zone.

Indonesia frequently faces seismic and volcanic activity due to its location on the Pacific "Ring of Fire". | BGNES
