Ancelotti: Mbappe not at his best, give him time

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti admitted that star player Kylian Mbappe is not at his best, but urged people to give the French international time to adapt.

Last night, Mbappe was again the culprit for the Royal Club, after missing a penalty, and Real lost their away game at Athletic Bilbao 1-2 and took a wrong step in the title fight. After the match, a Spanish journalist asked Ancelotti why Mbappe is not showing even 1 percent of the game he showed before coming to the "Santiago Bernabeu".

"He is showing much more than 1 percent. He is not at his best level, but you have to give him time to adapt. He has 10 goals now and he is working to improve his performance. I have not spoken to him after the game. We missed a penalty, but I do not need to judge a player's performance on that, because sometimes penalties go in and sometimes they do not. Of course he is sad and disappointed, but we have to move on," Ancelotti said.

Mbappe has 10 goals in 20 games for Real Madrid since the start of the season, but only three goals in his last 11 matches, and the criticism towards him is increasing. | BGNES
