At least 17 people were killed after Israeli security forces (IDF) bombed a school in Gaza, AFP reported.
"There are 17 martyrs and several wounded as a result of the Israeli shelling of the school in Hamama," the Gaza Civil Defense Agency said.
The announcement updated the earlier information that the victims were 10.
The IDF confirmed the strike, saying it struck a Hamas command and control center located in the compound.
Civil defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal said the compound houses Palestinians displaced from their homes during the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas militants.
The Israeli military said the compound was used by Hamas militants to manufacture weapons, adding that it was a "hideout for Hamas terrorists". | BGNES
