American rapper Snoop Dogg will be among the Olympic torchbearers when he makes his last lap before the opening ceremony of the Games in Paris.
He will carry it through the streets of Saint-Denis, the ethnically diverse northern Paris suburb where the Olympic stadium and aquatics centre are located, the city's mayor Mathieu Hanotin told AFP.
Other winners in Saint-Denis on Friday will be French actress Letizia Casta, French rapper MC Solaar and Ukrainian retired athlete Sergei Bubka.
The Olympic flame has been crossing France for two months and on Friday morning will be carried through the athletes' village, which lies between Saint-Denis and neighbouring Saint-Ouen, before reaching the Olympic Stadium and Aquatics Centre a few kilometres away.
The 52-year-old Snoop Dogg was born in Los Angeles, which will host the next Games in 2028.
The torch relay won't be the rapper's only appearance at the 2024 Games as he will also be an Olympic commentator for US broadcaster NBC. | BGNES
