World No 2 Carlos Alcaraz admitted he felt like a 13-year-old on court after being outplayed by Bulgaria's best male tennis player Grigor Dimitrov in the quarter-finals of the Miami Masters. Alcaraz arrived in Florida in top form after winning the Indian Wells tournament earlier this month, but his hopes of becoming the first to complete the 'Sunshine Double' since Roger Federer in 2017 were dashed after defeat by the Bulgarian 2-6, 4-6 - his second in a row by Grigor after the Shanghai Masters at the end of last year.
"He played incredible tennis, almost perfect. I couldn't find the right solutions. I couldn't make him feel uncomfortable on the court. It was a great match for him. I left the court thinking that I probably should have changed my game a little bit earlier in the match, but that doesn't matter, I think I played good. Not perfect, but good. But now I'm very disappointed because he made me feel like a 13-year-old on the court. It was crazy. I was telling my team I don't know what to do. I don't know his weakness. I don't know anything", said the 20-year-old Spaniard.
The two-time Grand Slam champion added that he is already looking forward to his next match with Dimitrov and that he plans to change something in his game in an attempt to break away from him in head-to-head clashes with Alcaraz currently leading 3-2. "Probably the next game I play against him, and I'm sure there will be one, I'll try to do a lot of different things. Let's see what happens".
Grigor, who is ranked number 12 in the world, will play his fourth semi-final of the year when he faces fourth seed Alexander Zverev at 01:00 Bulgarian time. With a victory over the German, in addition to the final in Miami, Dimitrov will also enter the top 10 of men's tennis. /BGNES
