Alcaraz dealt with Korda for a place in the 1/8-finals in Paris

Carlos Alcaraz advanced to the round of 16 at the second Grand Slam of the year at Roland Garros after beating Sebastian Korda 6-4, 7-6 (5), 6-3. The match lasted just over two hours and 40 minutes.

The third-seeded Spaniard struggled before breaking the resistance of his American rival. The opening set began with breaks being traded before Alcaraz hit again at the end of the set to take the lead. The second was decided by a tiebreak, in which both were not convincing enough, but the young Spaniard still managed to triumph with 7-5 points. In the third set, Korda broke in the fourth game and was unable to break back from there, ending his participation in this year's edition of the competition in Paris.

Alcaraz finished the match with a positive balance of 38 winners and 27 unforced errors, while Korda made twice as many unforced errors as his winners - 40 to 20. In contention for a place in the quarterfinals, the world number three will play winner from Ben Shelton (15) and Felix Auger-Aliassime (21).
