Getafe is a club that has developed a lot in the last 10 years. This was stated in an interview with BGNES by the director of the "Business Development" department at the Spanish elite club Getafe, Alberto Heras. Heras is one of the speakers at the second edition of the La Liga seminar, the main organizers of which are Palms Bet, the official partner of La Liga for Bulgaria, and Foundation "Sport in Bulgaria".
Heras started his football journey 20 years ago when he became the youngest agent to finalize a transfer in the Spanish Primera Division. Two years later, he started working as a marketing director at ASAP Group, and from 2009 to 2014 he was vice president of the company. Heras was subsequently appointed to Getafe, where he remains Director of Business Development to this day.
He admitted that the situation in the football market is completely different compared to 20 years ago. „Yes, we started 20 years ago in the football market. We have been working at Getafe for 10 years now. The situation now is completely different from when we started. In La Liga we do a lot of work, the market is very different. The best thing about La Liga is financial control. A good distribution of TV rights is very important for the different clubs”, Heras began.
Getafe's business director was adamant that a strong relationship with the club's supporters is important for the club to develop in the future. „Real Madrid and Barcelona are big clubs, but the market is completely different because Getafe is a younger club, the support of the fans is different compared to the big clubs. All the fans are honest and hardworking and know how difficult it is for the club. They are aware of the great work being done by Getafe. This relationship with the fans is important for the club in its bid to compete with the best and biggest in Spain”.
Regarding what has changed since the beginning of his time as Director of Business Development until now, Heras replied: „We have changed a lot in the last 10 years since I have been working at Getafe. In that time we have increased fan support. Four years ago we went ahead with the sale of all season tickets and now we have started the construction of the new stadium. We are also building the new office, which means more work places. Now, for example, in communications last year we had only two people, and now they are 10. In the marketing department and the business department, we were only two, but now we are six. Next season we will continue with the increase in the number of employees, because we need it“.
And regarding the new stadium and when it will be ready and how much it will cost the club, the business director revealed: „We are starting the construction of the new stadium at the end of June and it will take us four years to complete it. It depends how much it will cost, but it will be around 40-50 million euros“, concluded Alberto Heras. /BGNES
