French star Alain Delon has been placed under "judicial protection" by a guardianship judge at a court in the southern Paris region, AFP reports.
The court has appointed a legal representative to assist the 88-year-old actor "in his medical care" and in choosing care providers.
On 10 January, lawyers for Alain Delon and his eldest son Anthony asked that the film legend be "placed under protection" "for health reasons".
Then, according to the same lawyers, a medical examination was carried out on 13 January by a doctor appointed by the prosecution.
The custody judge's January 25 order noted that there were "disagreements between Alain Delon's three children, particularly regarding his medical care" and the guardians "responsible for his care."
"In view of the conflict surrounding the actor, it is necessary to appoint a neutral and impartial legal representative for the protection of adults to assist him," the text added.
In France, the sauvegarde de justice is a short-term protection measure (one year, renewable once) that allows the adult to be represented in order to carry out certain acts of daily life.
Since early January, the star's three children have been in a tumultuous conflict through the media and the courts, each swearing they want to protect their father, whose health has been deteriorating since he suffered a stroke in 2019.
Anthony, 59, and Alain-Fabien, 29, believe Alain Delon is being manipulated by their 33-year-old sister Anuschka, who is allegedly hiding his health condition from them and would like to bring him back to Switzerland.
Lawyer Frank Berton, who represents the actor's daughter, that Anuschka "is as pleased as I am that the court has appointed an agent and has dealt with the problem. That's a very good thing." / BGNES
