Broadcaster Eurosport has removed a commentator from its coverage of the Paris Olympics after he made a "sexist comment" during a swimming competition.
Bob Ballard is accused of hurling abusive words at Australian swimmers after they won gold in the women's 4x100m freestyle relay on Saturday, 27 July, AFP reports.
In the clip, which went viral on social media, Ballard says: "Well, the women are just finishing. You know what women are like... hanging around and putting on makeup."
Ballard's co-commentator Lizzie Simmonds called his comment "outrageous."
"During a segment on Eurosport last night, commentator Bob Ballard made an inappropriate comment. He has been removed from our list of commentators with immediate effect," the broadcaster said in a statement. | BGNES
