A man has been arrested after he crashed his car into the gates of Buckingham Palace in London, London police said, AFP reported
The incident happened at around 02:33 GMT on March 9 when "a car crashed into the gates of Buckingham Palace", police said.
"Armed police officers arrested a man at the scene of the incident on suspicion of criminal damage. He was taken to hospital," added Scotland Yard, specifying that no one was injured and that an investigation is currently underway to establish the circumstances of the incident.
Security around Buckingham Palace, the official residence of the British royal family, is very tight, with armed police patrolling the building in the heart of the capital.
It has been the subject of several break-in attempts in the past. In November last year, a man who tried to break into the palace's royal stables was fined.
And in May last year, a man was arrested after throwing shotgun shells into the park, just days before Charles III's coronation.
In another incident in the autumn, a man was given a 15-month suspended sentence for driving his car into the gates protecting the entrance to Downing Street, the security street where the British prime minister's residence is located. /BGNES
