Ruth Westheimer, a grandmotherly sex therapist better known as "Dr. Ruth," has died at her home in New York City. She was 96 years old, CNN reported.
Westheimer became America's most famous sex counselor with her outspoken, entertaining radio and television programs,
Her death was announced by her spokesman, Pierre Le Hou.
Dr. Westheimer was 50 years old when she first appeared on the air in 1980, answering mailed questions about sex and relationships from listeners on New York radio station WYNY.
