Aid trucks began entering the Gaza Strip from Egypt about 90 minutes after the start of a truce between Israel and Hamas militants, the Guardian reported.
Two of the trucks representing Egyptian organizations carried flags reading "Together for Humanity". Another read: "For our brothers in Gaza"
According to an Egyptian representative, about 130,000 liters of diesel fuel and four gas trucks will enter Gaza daily until the end of the four-day ceasefire.
"Two hundred trucks loaded with food, medicine and water will enter daily for the first time since the start of Israel's war on the Strip," said Diaa Rashwan, head of Egypt's State Information Service.
Rashwan said Egypt would continue to receive groups of wounded people from Gaza for treatment and facilitate the evacuation of foreigners and dual nationals stranded in the territory.
He indicated that for the first time since the beginning of the conflict, Egypt will allow Palestinians who wish to enter Gaza through the Rafah border crossing. /BGNES
