70 horses died in a fire in France

70 horses died in a fire that broke out early Sunday morning at a stud farm in the municipality of Bernesque, department of Calvados.

The fire affected a 500 square meter stable belonging to the Bernesq stud farm, located on the grounds of a castle in the small commune in Normandy, which is dedicated to the breeding of racehorses.

Calvados prefecture told AFP that "checks are needed, but 70 mares and stallions have been reported dead."

The fire is probably not intentional, but the gendarmerie will investigate the case to establish the exact causes. | BGNES
