7 April is World Health Day and a professional celebration of all those who work in the field of human medicine. The holiday has been celebrated since 1948 on the initiative of the World Health Organization, and in Bulgaria it has also been celebrated as Health Worker's Day since 1964.
The World Health Organization was established in Geneva in 1948 and as of 2022, 194 countries are members. Governments, non-governmental organizations and specialized UN organizations work together on programs to solve common health problems for humanity. Global initiatives invite everyone - from world leaders to citizens - to focus on internationally significant health challenges. The celebration aims to draw attention to a global health and social issue that affects all of society. This year's theme is Our Planet, Our Health and focuses on climate change and its impact on the health and well-being of people around the world. /BGNES
