2 children have been killed and 9 others injured after a knife attack in the UK. 6 of the injured children are in serious condition, AFP reported.
A 17-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder over the attack in Southport, near Liverpool in north-west England. Merseyside Police said two adults were also critically injured in the attack.
Police Chief Serena Kennedy said counter-terrorism forces had offered their support, but that the attack was not being treated as terrorism-related and that the motive was unclear.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer told the media that "the events of today are truly horrific, the whole country is deeply shocked".
"Our thoughts and condolences are with the victims, families, friends and the entire community. The grief is almost impossible to imagine," he added. | BGNES
