16-year-old dropped the bomb in Melbourne, eliminated the world No.6

16-year-old Mira Andreeva recorded the biggest success of her career. The Russian advanced to the third round in Melbourne after beating world No. 6 Ons Jabour 6-0, 6-2. In this way, the teenager recorded her first success over a tennis player from the Top 10.

Last year, Andreeva played in the final of the Australian Open for girls, in which she lost to Alina Korneeva, and now she beat a three-time Grand Slam finalist in just 54 minutes.

"I was very worried before the match because Ons is my inspiration because of the way he plays. I played incredible tennis in the first set. I admit that I did not expect such a thing from myself. I just wanted to go out and play on the big court for the second time in my life," admitted Andreeva.

In the first set, the 16-year-old tennis player lost only 8 points, and finally finished the match with 85% points won on the first serve.

Andreeva is the second-youngest tennis player in the Open Era to lose three or fewer games against a top-10 opponent at a Grand Slam tournament. The first was Jelena Dokic, who at Wimbledon in 1999 eliminated then-#1 Martina Hingis by 6- 0, 6-2.

The teenager, who is currently ranked 47th, will meet one of Diyan Parry and her compatriot Kamila Rahimova in the next round of the competition.

Later today, Mira and our Vicky Tomova have to play a doubles match against Blinkova and Sasnovich. The match is scheduled for 10:10 a.m. Bulgarian time.

Another Russian - qualifier Maria Timofeeva is also in the third round after eliminating the 2018 champion Caroline Wozniacki 1:6, 6:4, 6:1. /BGNES
