14-minute demonstration in Novi Sad in memory of the tragedy that claimed 14 lives

A 14-minute demonstration was held in the Serbian city of Novi Sad in memory of the 14 people who died when the canopy of the city's railway station collapsed, Danas reported.

The action was organised by the Serbian opposition and was held under the slogan "Novi Sad, stop!".

"Let the whole city stop for 14 minutes - in solidarity and protest! From 11:52 a.m. to 12:06 p.m. let's stop wherever we are. If you're in a car, turn on the alarm and get out; if you're working, get out; students and pupils - leave the lectures. Doctors, private individuals - let everyone find a way... Let's show that we have not forgotten!" the opposition in Novi Sad said in its appeal.

Rallies were held at the city's railway station, Freedom Square and in front of the Youth Theatre.
Citizens set up a black canvas near the railway station, while others came out on the terraces of their homes and in front of their workplaces.

Students from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Novi Sad also joined the action.
Youth activists said they would stop traffic on 17 November for 6 hours. | BGNES
