007 producers to receive honorary Oscars

The producers of the James Bond films Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli will receive honorary Oscars at a ceremony in November. They have run the franchise since 1995, when "Goldeneye" was released, and achieved considerable success with films such as "Skyfall," which earned $1 billion.

This recognition comes amid heightened anticipation for the announcement of the next James Bond, following Daniel Craig's departure after "No Time to Die" and MGM's acquisition of Amazon. The Broccoli family's company, Eon, retains creative control of the series.

Other honorees include Quincy Jones, a groundbreaking musician and composer with seven Oscar nominations, and British screenwriter and director Richard Curtis, known for films such as "Love Actually" and "Four Weddings and a Funeral." Curtis will receive the Jean Hersholt statuette for his humanitarian efforts within the Comic Relief organization. Juliet Taylor, a distinguished casting director, will also be honored. The Governors Awards, which have been held separately since 2009, honor industry veterans who have been overlooked at the regular Oscars. The fifteenth ceremony will take place on November 17. | BGNES
