The Redress Design Award invites emerging designers globally to showcase their circular and sustainable fashion collections. The competition was open to emerging designers who could apply until today, March 15, BGNES reported.
The Redress Design Award is the world’s leading sustainable fashion design competition that educates and empowers emerging fashion designers about circular design techniques to reduce fashion’s negative environmental impacts.
The award recognises the best talent in sustainable design each year - since about 80 percent of a product's environmental impact is determined at the design stage, designers have a significant impact on advancing the circular economy in the fashion industry.
Following their runway victory, the Redress Design Award first prize winner will have an opportunity to join the Tommy Hilfiger team and work on a sustainable design project for retail, gaining valuable industry experience, and building on their knowledge of sustainable fashion. They will also spend time under the guidance of the Tommy Hilfiger sustainability team to deepen their skills and understanding of sustainable production and marketing. The winner will also receive mentorship sessions from the Tommy Hilfiger team to support their ongoing career.
The first prize winner will also receive…
-
A development fund of HK50,000 (US$6,400) to propel their sustainable fashion career
-
A high-performance lockstitch machine and an overlock sewing machine from JUKI
-
One year individual access to all areas of Bloomsbury Fashion Central, including the Fairchild Books Library and the Fashion Photography Archive*
The runner-up will receive a tailored mentorship with distinguished sustainable fashion designer and competition judge, Orsola de Castro. Widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in sustainable fashion, Orsola has nurtured many of the pioneering names in sustainable fashion from their early designs through to their established brands.
This mentorship opportunity will give the winner expert and targeted support from wherever they are in the world through video calls and by email over a six-month period.
