Princess Kate's former favourite fashion brand suffers blow as store closures announced

The news of store closures is bad for Princess Kate's once-favorite apparel company.

Ted Baker, a 36-year-old British company, is to close 15 of its stores and eliminate about 245 jobs in the UK.
The company, which has entered bankruptcy, was a well-known favorite of the Princess of Wales, who was frequently seen sporting the merchandise.

When the princess wore the brand's signature £300 navy trench coat while still the Duchess of Cambridge, sales of the item increased even further, GB News reported.

Although Kate had owned the navy coat since 2006, her arrival in Summerside during a royal tour of Canada had a significant influence on the brand.

Following Kate's photo shoot featuring the brand, Ted Baker revealed that global sales had increased by over 15% and that UK and European sales had increased by 8.7%.

Approximately 10 years ago, Kate wore the Ted Baker Stardy cream blouse for a royal engagement.

About twenty-five head office positions are expected to be eliminated as part of Ted Baker's plan to cut central expenses.


Before the company went into administration, four more locations were set for closure in addition to the eleven already closed stores.

"Our website crashed due to the spike in traffic that happened after these pictures of Kate wearing the Shola dress from the company in 2011 were released. When service was restored, the garment quickly went out of stock on the internet.
