Nicolas Ghesquiere presents his Louis Vuitton 10th anniversary show in Paris

Louis Vuitton Artistic Director Nicolas Guesquiere presented his tenth anniversary show to his loyal clients and admirers at the Cour Carree in the Louvre.
The futuristic set, built around a huge metal sphere with flashing lights, was conceived by artist Philippe Parreno and Hollywood producer James Chinlund.
Ghesquiere recently renewed his contract with Louis Vuitton for another five years.
Each of the 4,000 guests, including the brand's 2,000 employees, was greeted with a note in which Ghesquiere recalled the "immense joy" he experienced 10 years ago. Several guests with deep wardrobes wore pieces from that first collection that elicited gasps of amazement, the Guardian reported.
On the final day of Paris Fashion Week, nostalgia was in the air.
At Louis Vuitton, and before that at Balenciaga, Ghesquière has created his own distinctive fashion language that combines opulence and futurism, which seems as relevant now as it did a decade ago.
Metallic-embroidered jackets with cropped coat parts contributed to the clean silhouettes, paired with flat shoes, biker jackets with collars balanced with skirts. Grey pencils were charming, sequin dresses sparkled, and leather gloves brought a dose of the unexpected.
There were bags shaped like miniature vintage briefcases, scratched and dented. Ghesquière reminded Parisian fashion that, while he never had his own brand, he was one of the names that shaped modern clothing.
Last year, Louis Vuitton became the first brand to exceed €20bn (£17bn) in sales. /BGNES
