Karl Lagerfeld's futuristic apartment in Paris was sold for 10 million euros

The futuristic apartment in Paris of the late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld was sold at an auction for 10 million euros, the Guardian reported.

The final price, 11 million euros, including notary fees, is roughly twice the guide price, set at 5.3 million euros. No details of the buyer have been released.

Set in a 17th-century building on the Quai Voltaire, the three-bedroom home overlooks the Seine and the Louvre.

The 260 sq m apartment has a 50 sq m walk-in closet and has been completely renovated by Lagerfeld "in a futuristic style with a concrete floor and sections of sandblasted glass".

German-born Lagerfeld, whose eye-catching creations and shows for Chanel, Fendi and his own label had a huge impact on the fashion world, lived there for about 10 years until his death aged 85 in February 2019.

His office and library are now open to the public as a bookstore and event space in the Latin Quarter of Paris.

The series about his life, Becoming Karl Lagerfeld, starring Daniel Brühl, is expected to air on Disney+ in June.

In an interview with AFP earlier this month, Brühl said he tried to emulate Lagerfeld's extreme aesthetic tastes.

"I tried to do my best, but the furniture, the posters, the pictures, the paintings, the books... being such a perfectionist in aesthetics is something I absolutely share, but I'm obviously useless compared to him," Bruhl said. /BGNES
