France introduces training on environmentally responsible fashion

A French bill envisages training, from an early age, to promote environmentally responsible fashion. The bill is linked to a project developed by students at the French Institute of Fashion (FIM).
As part of the IFM x Kering Sustainability Certificate, a group of students are developing "Petits Héros Durables" ("small sustainable heroes"), an educational program aimed at raising awareness among children about responsible fashion, Fashion United reported.
The proposed amendment to French education law, the Education Code, aims to raise awareness of the environmental impact of the fashion industry from an early age and improve knowledge of the conditions under which clothes are produced through lessons specifically dedicated to these topics.
The bill hopes to help transform French society towards a more sustainable model.
The goal is not only to inform, but also to train tomorrow's citizens to adopt a more conscious and responsible approach to consumption.
"Awareness of the environmental problems associated with mass production and consumption is now an absolute necessity. With this in mind, it is imperative that we incorporate an environmentally responsible dimension into our thinking and teaching of fashion from an early age."
This was stated by Senator Jean Hingrey, who is also the sponsor of the bill./BGNES
