Emmy Blunt caused a wave of comments with her Oscars dress

The Oscars red carpet looks did not disappoint this year either. The annual Oscars are always eagerly awaited to see who will push the boundaries of fashion.

Emily Blunt, for example, wore a dress that looked as if it was being held by invisible hands.
The Oscar-nominated actress wore a champagne-beaded Schiaparelli gown with floaty straps and an embellished midriff.
This gorgeous gown caught the attention of movie award viewers for the wrong reason, as fans expressed their bewilderment about the shoulders.

Some claimed they made Blunt look "like a boxer," while others said the dress looked like it was too long for her.
Stylist Jessica Paster told Vanity Fair that the final decision on the dress was made after a final tryout on the morning of the awards day when there were three dresses to choose from.

"I think when you decide what you want to wear, something happens," she told the publication.
"It depends on your mood. One was colourful, one was diaphanous, the third was white, and the fourth was of a little girl," Pasteur added.

The stylist has worked with Blunt for more than 18 years, which was instrumental in the fashion move.
"Sometimes we don't play it safe. At this point in our years with Emily, we can have fun with fashion. Did I know people would talk about the shoulders? Absolutely. Do I care what other people say? Absolutely not." Pasteur stated.
"Me? I think people who know fashion, like fashion, like interesting things, would like it, and I know people who like some very classic things, wouldn't like it. At the end of the day, she (Emily) looked absolutely beautiful. It was such a beautiful dress," added the stylist.

Paster said she knew the dress would be talked about and didn't mind since she was "the one talking" to Blunt.
Although floating shoulders are a relatively new focal point in the outfit, Blunt was joined by her Oppenheimer co-star Florence Pugh. Pugh wore a silver Del Core off-the-shoulder gown on the Oscars red carpet.
"I thought Blunt would be the first to wear a dress like that ... and then I saw that the beautiful Florence Pugh also has very similar shoulders," Paster said.

This led fans to believe that she was co-ordinated, but the stylist confirmed that was not the case.

"Trust me, there's nothing about this dress that says Oppenheimer. To me, it was a beautiful, gorgeous Oscar-nominated, Oscar-winning dress, and that's why I love this dress," Blunt's stylist concluded./BGNES
