Dries Van Noten to step down as creative director at his namesake label

Dries Van Noten, the renowned designer behind his eponymous label, is stepping down as its creative director, according to a report by Harper's Bazaar.

In a letter addressed to his supporters, Van Noten announced his decision to step away from leading the fashion house he established in 1986. His last collection for the women's line was showcased in Paris for Autumn/Winter 2024-25, with his final show scheduled during Men's Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2025 in June. The upcoming Spring/Summer 2025 womenswear collection will be crafted by Van Noten's studio team without his direct involvement.

In his letter, the Belgian designer expressed his desire to focus on endeavors he previously lacked time for, signaling a transition to make way for new talent to shape the brand's future.

While a successor has yet to be named, it will be a daunting task to uphold Van Noten's influential legacy. Known for his innovative approach to prints, layering, and texture, he has been a quiet yet significant figure in fashion, inspiring designers to embrace a more intellectual and compelling aesthetic.

Van Noten indicated he would maintain some involvement with the brand in unspecified capacities. Despite stepping down, he expressed confidence in the brand's future, stating, "the future of DVN remains bright." /BGNES
