Dries Van Noten combines far-flung fabrics, colours and textures to create an elegant collection that is sure to delight thousands of women at Paris Fashion Week.
A collection that Van Noten admitted after the show he edited until the last minute while mixing metallic jacquards, sheer lycra, sequins and solid wool cuts. In the hands of a lesser designer this would have been a complete mess, but Dries managed to make it all work, and how.
"A woman daring to cut her own bangs," laughed Van Noten, half of whose models had foreheads covered in hair.
From a shimmering pink knit mohair evening coat to an exclusive polyester trench with a dip in satin in descending colours - electric blue, kissing pink and muddy brown.
"It's a matter of trial and error, but the main thing is that each piece has to stand on its own," adds the Belgian designer to explain the editing process.
In practice, the acquisition of Van Noten in 2018 was the icing on the cake of Puig Group's campaign to acquire fashion brands. They control a stable of brands such as Carolina Herrera, Rabanne, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Rochas. /BGNES
