Carrie Fisher's Star Wars bikini sells for $175,000

The iconic gold costume, which also featured rings and hip bracelets and was worn by the late actress when her character Princess Leia was captured and chained by Jabba the Hutt, went under the hammer at Heritage Auctions in Dallas on Friday (July 26).

A miniature Y-Wing starfighter used in the mission to destroy the Death Star in "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" was also sold at auction for a whopping $1.55 million after competitive bidding, reports "Contact Music".

The model was one of only two miniatures of the movie "Hero" Y-Wing built by the visual effects team at Industrial Light and Magic. The Heritage auction house said it "never saw the light of day".

The sale included lots from other films, such as a wand used by Daniel Radcliffe in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban that sold for $52,000. A hammer prop used in the movie "Thor" sold for $81,000, and a costume worn by Macaulay Culkin in "Home Alone" sold for $47,500. The Star Wars costume is one of the most iconic in cinema history, but Carrey - who died in December 2016 - previously admitted she thought director George Lucas was joking when he showed her the suit. | BGNES
