America Ferrera bids farewell to "Barbie" in Versace

Actress America Ferrera stunned on the red carpet in a gorgeous pink Versace Gown, which was the perfect look for her debut as an Oscar nominee.

Ferrera's nomination for her critically acclaimed performance as Gloria in Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie's billion-selling hit "Barbie" is the culmination of 20 years of portrayals of poignant and memorable characters, from Carmen Lowell in "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" to four seasons as Betty Suarez in "Ugly Betty," six seasons on NBC's "Superstore" and countless roles in between, Harper’s Bazaar reports.

"The experience was so rich and surreal. One of the things I could never have anticipated is spending time with the other nominees and building friendships with them that are so supportive", shares Ferrera on her Oscar nomination and the experience of a history books press junket with Barbie.

For her appearance at the 96th Academy Awards’ red carpet, Ferrera chose a stunning and show-stopping gown that was the perfect embodiment of “Barbie”, made by Atelier Versace and paired with jewels by Pomellato. Her hair and makeup were slightly muted, letting her bold outfit choice become the main attraction of a perfectly curated look.

"The moment I stepped into the dress, I was hooked and started dancing," tells Ferrera of the stunning, shimmering dress. "That's how I knew."

According to Welch, the dress served as the perfect "farewell to Barbie," especially since Ferrera opted for black and neutral tones throughout most of the film's press tour and awards season.

Donatella Versace, of course, agreed.

"America embodies grace, honesty and strength - to me, that's the essence of Versace and the essence of empowered women today," the designer said. "Her voice is so strong in Barbie that it resonates with women around the world. I admire her immensely as an actor and I am honored that she chose Atelier Versace." /BGNES
