While the Central Electoral Commission was asking Yolovski what actions he would take for the runoff, he was already certifying the machines

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has decided to send a letter to the Minister of Electronic Government, Aleksandar Yolovski, asking the Minister to inform the commission of the follow-up actions that the Ministry of e-Government will take in connection with the runoff for the local vote on November 5, a reporter told BGNES.

This became clear from the meeting of the CEC, which was held a day after the Supreme Administrative Court returned the machines for the runoff, reported a BGNES reporter.

At the meeting, the CEC must also announce its decision on the first round of voting, after the protocols are 100% processed. Such a decision was issued by the Municipal Election Commission of Sofia in the wee hours of the day.

Meanwhile, while the CEC was deciding on the letter to send to Yolovski, the ministry entrusted to him informed that a procedure was starting to guarantee Bulgarian citizens the opportunity to vote by machine in the second round of local elections in 2023. In order to avoid any risks for re-cancellation of the machine vote, at the end of the new procedure the Minister of e-Government Alexander Iolovski will put his signature.

Alexander Iolovski: We are certifying the machines for the second round of the elections

The Minister of e-Government invites representatives of the State Agency for National Security, the parties, coalitions and initiative committees registered to participate in the elections, the non-governmental organizations, registered observers of the relevant type of election, as well as the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences to monitor every step from the process. They will get access to all the information in the order determined by the CEC. /BGNES
