"We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" (WCC-DB) filed an appeal against the Central Election Commission's (CEC) decision to cancel the machine voting. The appeal was submitted through the CEC to the Supreme Court. This was said by Nikola Minchev from the party, reported BGNES.
"The ball is now in the CEC's court to forward the entire file to the court", Minchev added. According to the law, this is done immediately, and the court has three days to rule on the appeal. In view of the importance of the case, a speedy ruling is in the public interest.
"We have also received information that the voting machines that have arrived in different cities are already being prepared to be returned to the central warehouse in Sofia. I call on the members of the Municipal Election Commission not to hurry with this action, but to wait for the development of the case today", Minchev also said.
Nikola Minchev stated that the CEC has a reason to reconsider its decision because there is a complaint submitted to the Supreme Administrative Court, as well as an answer from the Ministry of e-Government, which has already been given. "I call for the State Agency for National Security (SANS) report to be distributed, it is no secret, in order to see what problems are involved that would force the cancellation of the machine voting," emphasized the MP from WCC-DB.
Vasil Pandov, also from the WCC-DB, called on the Supreme Court to rule within the day so that it becomes clear how all Municipal Election Commissions should proceed. "When there is a complaint filed in court, the machine voting is not cancelled. We hear that other election commissions, not only the one in Sofia, will also meet", emphasized Pandov.
BGNES reminds that at a midnight briefing, WCC-DB announced that they will appeal to the Supreme Court the CEC's decision to cancel the machine voting. The saga began after the chairman of the parliamentary group of "There is such a people" Toshko Yordanov announced that a report by the SANS made it clear that the Deputy Minister of e-Government Mikhail Stoinov downloaded the codes of the machines, recorded them on his phone, recorded them on a flash drive. "All is compromised", declared Toshko Yordanov and defined the actions of the deputy minister as a coup d'état.
Desislava Atanasova, the chairman of the parliamentary group of GERB-SDS, and Delyan Peevski, co-chair of the parliamentary group of Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), called for voting on Sunday only on paper or for the elections to be cancelled. The CEC, on the other hand, came out with a decision to cancel the machine voting. /BGNES
