With 100% processed Sectional Election Commission (SEC) protocols as of 06:00 am on Monday November 6 at the runoff in our maritime capital, Blagomir Kotsev wins the mayoral seat.
45,395 people or 53.06% voted for the candidate of "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" (WCC-DB).
GERB candidate Ivan Portnich finished second with nearly 10,000 fewer votes, winning 41.52% of the vote.

"This was the choice of the people of Varna. This is a completely civil vote, which clearly stated that poeple want to change the course of governance of this city. There are no loose fits in Varna," the new mayor of Varna, Blagomir Kotsev, from WCC-DB, told BNR.
Kotsev pointed out that the people of Varna want a "change in the model" because for more than 10 years Ivan Portnih has governed the city "in a non-transparent manner".
Accusing the previous mayor of dependencies, Blagomir Kotsev declared that under his administration there would be no "behind-the-scenes players who would pull the strings in certain directions for the development of the city" and would work "transparently and with great enthusiasm." "I will work to ensure that the interests of businesses and citizens coincide," he said, quoted by media.
The Varna municipal council is colorful. Asked how it will function, Kotsev pointed out that majorities will be formed on the basis of policies. "This fragmentation will not give an advantage to any political force and requires consensus, as this is the easier way to manage", believes the previous regional governor and newly elected mayor of Varna. /BGNES
