Two protests in Sofia "for" and "against" changes in the LGBTI law

Two protests are taking place in front of the Presidency at this hour, BGNES reported.

Protesters against changes to the School and Preschool Education Act gathered under the windows of the presidency. The changes prohibit the promotion of non-traditional sexual orientation within educational institutions.

Earlier in the day, the president's administration announced that Bulgarian President Rumen Radev had signed the promulgation law.

The protest is titled "Veto the Hate Law", and is taking place with an extremely heavy police presence.

At the same time, a counter-protest organized by "Vazrazhdane" under the title "NO to gender propaganda" is taking place in the centre of Sofia. Yes to normalcy!".

The provisions of the Law on School and Pre-school Education provide for the prohibition of propaganda, popularization or incitement in any way - directly or indirectly, in the education system, of ideas and views related to non-traditional sexual orientation and/or determination of gender identity other than from the biological.
