The number of delegates to the Fourth Patriarchal Electoral Church Council is 140, and in addition to senior clergy, it includes clerics and laymen from each diocese, monks and representatives of theological schools, BGNES reported.
Their registration began this morning and will continue until noon, said the spokesman of the Holy Synod, Metropolitan Cyprian.
In the evening in the Saint Sophia Church, the delegates will participate in a divine service, which will be attended by the delegations of the Local Orthodox Churches, which arrive for the enthronement of the future patriarch.
At 9 o'clock on Sunday, the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will be welcomed in the "Holy Sunday" church, where a short memorial service will be held at the grave of Patriarch Neofitus.
