Our national team performed excellently at the Girls' Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI) in the Netherlands. The Bulgarian high school girls returned with three medals and one certificate of honour.
The competition took place between July 21 and 27 in Veldhoven. It was organized for the fourth year in a row, and 196 girls from 57 countries participated in it.
The gold prize was won by tenth-grader Simona Hristova from the Profiled Science and Mathematics High School "Nancho Popovich" in Shumen. She ranked 5th in Europe and thus took the first gold medal for our country from this competition.
The silver medals go to the students Nora Pascaleva from the American College in Sofia and Nermin Idiriz, who also studies at PPMG "Nancho Popovich" in Shumen.
Reni Paskaleva, an eleventh-grader from the First Private Mathematical High School in Sofia, narrowly missed out on a medal but deserved an honorary diploma. This is so far the best performance of the Bulgarian team in the competition.
