A week before the deadline, Goritza Kozhareva-Grancharova, nominated by President Rumen Radev as the next acting Prime Minister, continues negotiations on the composition of a new acting cabinet, a BGNES reporter reported.
According to unofficial information, the talks continued over the weekend, but none of those "involved" commented on the topic publicly.
Acting Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov, who attended the Navy Day celebration in Varna, admitted that he has not yet held talks with Gorica Grancharova-Kozhareva, appointed by President Radev as Acting Prime Minister, regarding his possible stay in the post in the new cabinet. The minister emphasized that he has fulfilled his duties as a caretaker minister and that the new prime minister must select a team that meets his priorities. "My professional expertise fits into the context of an office, not a party cabinet," Zapryanov added.
Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov was the first to publicly announce that he had spoken to Grancharova, reporting that she was under "brutal political pressure". When asked if he thinks he will keep his post, the interior minister admitted that he is unlikely to continue working in the next cabinet.
At the moment, three ministers - of defence, of transport and of culture - Atanas Zapryanov, Georgi Gvozdeikov and Nayden Todorov have already expressed their desire to remain at the head of the line ministries.
If the current structure of the "Glavchev" cabinet is maintained, 19 ministers are wanted, and how many of them will be vice prime ministers, Kozhareva will decide.
Grancharova has until August 19 to present a project to the government. The next cabinet is due to be sworn in on August 20 so that elections can be held on October 20. According to the Constitution, the elections must be held within two months of the swearing-in of the official cabinet.
This means that the deputies, who had prepared to rest since August 16, will have to continue working at least until the 20th. | BGNES
