The State Agency for National Security requested the expulsion of a Russian journalist because of espionage

In connection with an activity posing a threat to the national security of the Republic of Bulgaria, by Order Reg. No. З-2552/20.09.2023 of the Chairman of the State Agency for National Security (on the basis of Art. 42, Para. 1, in connection with with Article 10, Paragraph 1, Item 1 and Paragraph 2 and Article 44, Paragraph 1 of the Law on Foreigners in the Republic of Bulgaria) of the Russian citizen Alexander Gatsak, accredited correspondent in the Republic of Bulgaria of "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" , coercive administrative measures "revocation of the right of residence", "expulsion" and "ban on entry and residence in the territory of the member states of the European Union" were imposed, SANS announced.

On 29.09.2023, he was summoned for the delivery of the order in due order at the "Migration Directorate" of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and later - at the building of the State Agency "National Security". The Russian citizen refuses to appear at the Bulgarian government offices and hides on the territory of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Bulgaria. In this regard, the State Agency "National Security" requested assistance from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The person left the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria on 01.11.2023.
