The Spartan plane with the mortal remains of the Bulgarian king Ferdinand I landed at Sofia airport, reported BGNES.
After the coffin was taken down by the military plane, the mortal remains of King Ferdinand went to the palace built by him - "Vrana", near the Bulgarian capital of Sofia.
The funeral procession will be welcomed by Simeon of Saxe-Coburg and his family, together with Western and Central European Metropolitan Anthony, official envoy of the Holy Synod, and by the Apostolic Nuncio to Bulgaria, Archbishop Monsignor Luciano Suriani.
BGNES reminds that the mortal remains of King Ferdinand I /1861-1948/, who declared independence in 1908 and is the basis of the modernization and Europeanization of Bulgaria, are returning to his native land 76 years after his death. /BGNES
